Poaching is anyone who comes to an event and shoots photos (usually pretending to practice or shoot for their own selves) and then they turn around and sell or give away those photos to competitors when there is an Official Photographer that is hired/contracted to photograph the event. It is not looked upon well by anyone in the Professional Photography business. We are a tight knit group and we look out for each other. It undermines what we do for a living and takes the food off of our tables. This is my only means of income as well as all of the other photographers I know. It is stealing...period! We have legal work contracts for shows with our show managers that states that anyone found doing this will not be allowed to stay on the show grounds and that show managment must take care of this for us. Furthermore, it is just not right. Would you want someone to come to your job and steal your work? What would you think/do if someone just showed up at your job site that you are contracted for and they did the job with the intention of doing it for less money (undercutting you), so your boss paid them instead of you, even though you did all of the work and put all of your time and money into it and it's your job not theirs? That is what you are doing. Anyone who does this just to make a buck should be ashamed of themselves!
